My One Word Challenge

Student Instructions

For this activity, you will listen to a story about how a kid your age comes up with one special word to help him have the best year ever. Then, you will come up with YOUR own special word for 2021. 1. Tap on the picture of "One Word for Kids," and watch the read aloud video. 2. Now, click on the add to add this activity to your journal. 3. Brainstorm special words that you like that describe how you can have a great 2021. Use the label tool to type them onto page 1. (If you need help, go to the last page of the activity for some ideas!). 4. On page 2, use the photo tool to take a selfie. Then, use the label tool to type your final word. 5. Use rec to read your word and explain your reason for choosing this word for 2021. 6. Tap check to add to your journal.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This read aloud is actually read by one of the authors, so cool! An extension activity could be to create a Wordle/Word Cloud with all the words your students came up with and share on your Seesaw blog or website.
