Card Spiral Game - Place Value

Grades: 1st Grade, Kindergarten
Subjects: Home Learning, Math

Student Instructions

You need: A deck of cards, (face cards & jokers removed at first - keep them for extension) A pair of dice Small objects to use for each player Set up your cards like the picture. Roll the dice. Move that many cards along the spiral. Say the two digit number you made with the number on the dice and the number on the card you land on. For example, if I roll a 4 and land on a 7, I would say ‘47’. Use the photo to take a picture of your set up and the label tool to write some of the numbers you created! Parent Notes: Talk about which digit is in the tens place and which is in the ones place. For an extra challenge, have your child make the biggest or smallest number possible with the two given numbers - for example 47 or 74. You can change the difficulty by adding or removing cards. Start with 1-5, then add in 6, 7, 8, etc.
