For open-ended responses: a high-quality answer for the paragraph question explains how the battery, conductor tape, and LED work together, mentions a closed circuit, and gives an example of a change that would stop the light (e.g., breaking the tape). For the multimedia show-it task, a strong response clearly shows the circuit, demonstrates the LED lighting, and narrates or labels the parts. Grade open-ended work as correct if the student accurately describes or demonstrates the circuit and identifies the roles of parts; mark incorrect if key ideas are missing or incorrect (e.g., confusing battery and LED roles).
