Student Instructions
Add response to open the activity. Watch the instructions on each page. It's important to practice along on the first and third pages to be successful when you create your own song. On the last page, you will audio or video record yourself to share your own name song. Green check when you've finished all four pages.
Backing track created by Amberlynn Lane using GarageBand. There will be several more Identity activities as students will build this song. Additional Resources: A great book to help with identity work with young people is "This Book is Antiracist" by Tiffany Jewell. Additional teacher resources are available online. A great picture book to use to help students name parts of someone's identity is "When the Beat was Born: DJ Kool Herc and the Creation of Hip Hop" by Laban Carrick Hill. This picture book is what inspired this project.
