Making a Face Mask

You will make a face mask this week to protect yourself or a family member. I attached a photo essay to show you how I sewed mine based on this New York Times tutorial: https://www.nytimes.com/article/how-to-make-face-mask-coronavirus.html A couple things I would advise: 1. You need an old T-shirt or any cloth to begin as well as needle and thread, possibly glue, and possibly pins. 2. When the tutorial suggests you sew the 4 ties, I would glue them or use a sewing machine. It is very time consuming and probably not necessary. You could also leave them as is and not fold them over to double up the cloth. 3. It is easy to sew the ties on the wrong side of the mask. Be sure that when you sew the mask and attach the ties in the 4 corners, that you put all the ties in the middle of the mask so you don’t see them at all sticking through the material. When you turn the mask right side out, you will thank me. 4. Check out my notes that I added to the visual steps I attached to this activity. They will help a lot. If you don’t know how to sew, this is a straightforward tutorial: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1FknfumFPX8 When done, post a photo of you or a family member wearing your face mask. Answer whether this was a challenge for you or easy and why.
