Student Instructions
Reading with a family partner can be so much fun as you help each other through the story. Let's begin:
1. 🤔With your partner, decide which book you will read together.
2. 👥 Sit side by side with your partner, placing the book in the middle where you both can read it.
3. ❓ Decide who will be ☝🏽Reader 1 and ✌🏽 Reader 2.
4. ☝🏽Reader 1 starts by reading the title and author.
5. ✌🏽Reader 2 reads the first page, then ☝🏽Reader 1 reads the next page.
6. 📖 Keep reading and switching readers until you have finished the entire book or chapter!
7. 🗣 Answer the questions about the book.
8.

Tap the microphone button to record you and your partner answering the questions.

Tap the green check to add to your journal.

This activity encourages students and families to read together. It allows families to support their child's independent reading practice in a supportive way that a classmate usually would. You can also encourage your students to partner read remotely on the phone or with technology. You can select books for students to use for this activity or encourage free choice, depending on the skill and availability of books in your student's homes.
