This activity is only a "count along" task for students who need more direct-instruction, support, and practice as they learn to count 1:1 counting to ten. This is not a formative assessment, as the students will not complete a task to evaluate. This activity's sole purpose is to provide an opportunity to reinforce counting and cardinality without an adult needing to be present in order to foster student independence. After the child is a confident counter, you can have him/her complete the companion activity "counting caterpillar" as a formative assessment, or press the "rerecord" button and save his/her thinking in this activity.
