There are so many incredible authors and storytellers in the world. This week you are going to interview a family member to discover who their favorite author or storyteller is and why. 1. Tap the add button. 2. 💬 Ask a family member if you can interview them. Be ready to ask these questions: - Who is your favorite author or storyteller? - Why? - What do you think makes them a great author or storyteller? - What kind of books would you say you like most? Fiction, non-fiction, funny, scary, animal stories etc. 3. Tap the video or and record your interview. 4. Reflect on your interview. What did you learn about the kinds of books and stories your family member likes? Are they similar to the kinds of storytellers and authors you like? 5. Tap the green check to add to your journal. Optional: Write a list of your favorite authors. Send a note to a friend and share your list. Ask them to share a list of great books with you. Family Why: Talking about books and stories with our children builds an interest and love of reading and stories. When children discover great authors and stories it motivates them to read and discover what makes good writing and storytelling.
This activity encourages your students to discuss books and authors with their family members. You can modify this activity based on genres you are studying and the grade and skill level of your students. You can also include a writing component and template to incorporate a writing prompt.
