Package Shapes

Grades: PK-TK
Subjects: Special Education, Math

Student Instructions

1. Click on the add button. 2. Name each shape. 3. Use a :draw: tool to color the packages according to the directions. (Circles blue, squares red and rectangles yellow.) 4. There are 2 pages to color. 5. Click on the green check to add to your journal. Simplify: * Only do the first page with the 2D shapes. * Print the page and let your child color the shapes with crayons instead of a mouse. * Instead of having your child name the shapes, you name them and see if your child can point to the ones you name. Extend: * The second page is a built-in extension. 3D shapes are more difficult. I didn't use the correct names for 3D shapes, but they will get that later and I just want them to recognize the 2D surfaces. * Have your child create a 3rd page (by clicking on the addpage) with their own shapes to sort and color (Use the shapes tool by clicking on the 3dots.) * Have your child teach describe the shapes by telling how many sides, corners, lengths etc. Learning Opportunities: Math 3 yr.4.1: Match, point to, and begin to identify basic shapes by name. Math 4 yr.4.2: Identify and name basic shapes regardless of their size and/or orientation (the way the object is turned or flipped). Math 4 yr.4.3: Begin to explore that shapes can be two-dimensional (flat) or three-dimensional (solid). Math 4 yr.4.4: Describe attributes of basic two dimensional shapes including size, number of sides, number of corners, etc.
