Student Instructions
What can you build? Create something with the materials your teacher gives you. 1. Click Add Response. 2. Think about what you created, and what was hard to do. What was fun? 3. Share about what you created 4. Click to submit your work.
After finalizing the instructions to cater to your class, teachers can add a voice note with the instructions. You can choose to have students build out of many different materials based on your location and what is available. (ie, Playdough, Natural Materials, Blocks. Legos etc). Focus questions to get students thinking about the design process of engineering in preschool can be: What did you create? Why did you create it? What worked? What did not? What can you do better next time you make this? The Process and Why: Have students take pictures of their work and draw or write about what they created in whatever way they choose. Then have them explain to you what they have documented. This process of work gives meaning to their creations and helps them to form a research-based approach to learning while having fun in their play.
