Protect your ears! Do you have hearing loss? How can we prevent hearing loss?

Grades: 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 8th Grade

Student Instructions

Click on add On page 1: Watch the video (with different members members of your family if possible). Discuss hearing loss with your family: - was anyone surprised at their results from watching the video? - what could be done to reduce more hearing loss in the future? - does anyone in your family or friends have hearing loss? - do they know what may have caused it? - what is it like living with hearing loss? Use the label or mic tool to record your thoughts. On page 2: Watch the video. Create a poster on preventing hearing loss. You can do this using seesaw tools, on another app such as PicCollage or on paper and upload a photo. When uploaded, use the pen tool to self assess. Tick the boxes next to the success criteria. Success criteria: ⬜️ gives clear written advice on how to reduce hearing damage/hearing loss ⬜️ has a relevant picture ⬜️ all text is correctly spelled ⬜️ text can easily be read from a distance (an appropriate size and boldness). Check your work thoroughly and click on the check to submit your work.

This activity was designed for use with KS2 pupils in the UK who are studying sound. It is used in my school as a homework task but can be used for home learning as it is a self-contained activity. The entire activity was designed on Seesaw so it is fully editable to your requirements.
