Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
Place students into groups of four. Each student will receive a card to determine what type of environmental change they will be exploring/investigating. Time students for individual work (15 minutes). Students share their responses (10 minutes. Within those 10 minutes, students will be responsible for typing in the things they learned from the other students). Class shares out ideas and makes corrections to address common mistakes of the topic. List of common mistakes: Students may make the following mistakes: • Not understanding that adaptations help an organism survive when changes in the ecosystem occur • Not understanding how long-term environmental changes occur over many years • Not understanding how adaptations can change the traits of future populations • Not understanding how the biodiversity of an ecosystem can be affected by short- and long-term changes
