Have many 3 squares by 3 squares grid. The children have 3 colours and they need to share the grid, equally, as many ways as they can (working with partners is helpful) Use as a starter to the lesson on thirds. You can then refer back to the grids when you are looking at 1/3 or 2/3 (one colour, two colours) G&T: Use larger grids (for example 3x6)
