Today we will continue learning to identify the Theme of a story. Remember, 'Theme' is a lesson or message that you take from a story and apply to your own life. It is a universal lesson that applies to everyone, not just one character in the story. A list of common theme topics has been included in this activity. Directions: 1. Click to add the template to your canvas. 2. Carefully review the list of Big Questions on the first page. Answer each question in the gray boxes, focusing on the boy. Responses have been started for you. 3. Rewatch the video 'The Present' to look for more details or think more deeply about the story. What is the author trying to teach you? 4. Use the tool to complete the graphic organizer. Add your theme sentence and then provide text evidence to support your thinking. Check page 3 to review common theme topics. 5. Check your work! 6. Click the button to turn in your activity.
