Good Readers Use Visualization

Grades: 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 2nd Grade, 5th Grade, Kindergarten, 1st Grade
Subjects: Reading

Student Instructions

Visualizing what you read makes reading more enjoyable and helps you remember what happened in the story. In this activity, you will use your visualization skills, your art skills, and your technology skills. Read this passage from Bedhead by Margie Palatini. What do you imagine Oliver's hair looked like? Do you imagine something different than your classmates? Click on "ADD" and choose "Drawing". Use your finger or a stylus to draw a picture of what you imagine Oliver looked like with his bedhead hair. After all students have submitted the assignment, I will approve everyone's drawing. Then, you can come back and see how your picture compares to your classmate's picture! When you are viewing your classmate's drawings, you can click on "Like" to let someone know you like their picture, or click on "Comment" to type something kind. I will be reading your comments. You will receive extra Bravos if you leave a kind comment for someone you don't know very well.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This was designed to be used at the beginning of the year to introduce students to SeeSaw tools. Students will learn how to respond to an Activity, use the Draw tool, and how to use the Like and Comment features.
