Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity was designed with third grade standards in mind. The students are learning how to find the perimeter of squares, rectangles, and rectilinear shapes. This is a great activity for whole instruction that leads into small groups or independent work stations. You can use the activity for remediation if needed. 3.MDA.6 Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters. This lesson moves students being able to find the perimeter with all sides given to having missing sides.
