Student Instructions

Use the link to listen to the read-aloud of "Snowflake Bentley" Follow the Engineering Design Process to design and make your own snowflake. 💡 Imagine: In this story, we learned that Wilson Bentley was the first known person to take a picture of snowflakes. Imagine that you need to make your own snowflake - one that has never been seen before! How will you do it? Will you make something? Draw a picture? 📝 Plan: Brainstorm different snowflake designs. Include as many details as you can. Decide if you will try to make your snowflake or if you will draw a detailed picture of it. Gather any materials you will need. 🎇 Create: Make your snowflake! If you decide to build, make sure it is okay with a grown up first. ✅ Test: Look closely at your snowflake. Is it symmetrical? (If you cut it in half, will it look the same on both sides?) Does it look like snowflakes you have seen before? Can you repeat the process and make another new, different snowflake? seesaw Share: - Tap add - Tap label or mic or photo to share your plan and reflect on what you made. - Tap the check to complete the activity.
