This activity is intended to gather prior knowledge and connections to the subject. Any artifact could be used instead of a bee. This is the first of three activities that follow the thinking routine, "THINK-PUZZLE-EXPLORE." The next activity will be the same, except that it will ask students to share what puzzles them about bees, what they wonder, and the third will be to invite the students to share what and how they would like to explore to learn about bees. I was cautious about what information I included in my example, hoping not to give much new information about bees and to show that "thinking" about bees could come in many directions, such as fact, feeling, experience, etc. We shall see if the example was successful!
