Water Cycle in a Bag The water cycle describes the continuous movement of water on Earth. It includes water’s evaporation from lakes and oceans, condensation, and precipitation like rain and snow. Try this easy experiment to watch a miniature version of the water cycle in action! 💙Materials 💧Sealable clear bag (ziplock) 💧Permanent marker 💧¼ cup of water 💧Masking or painter’s tape 💧Food colouring 💙Steps 💧Draw a landscape on the bag, with water on the bottom and sun and clouds on the top 💧Add a few drops of food colouring to the water 💧Pour the water into the bag 💧Tape the bag to a sunny window 💧Wait and see what happens! It will only take a few sunny hours for the water to move. 🤓💦Can you and your family identify evaporation, condensation, and precipitation in this bag? Think:🤓 What happens when this experiment is conducted on different windows or using different amounts of water? What other variables can you affect? How do these variables change your results? Take pictures during different times of the day. Post it!
