Student Instructions
Your class and teacher want to get to know more about you because YOU are special. You will video yourself and share stories about who you are, what you like, what interests you, and much more. Before making video: 1. Choose a box from home and add 4 objects to the box. The four objects can be something that is special, something you are proud of, something that brings back a memory, or you can even find an object that can be a symbol of your feelings. 2. First, write a short script about yourself on one of the index cards: Introduce yourself by telling us your name and a little bit about your family (brothers, sisters, pets, etc.) You will start your video with this introduction. 3. Next, for each object, jot down a few notes/reminders of what you want to say about each item on an index card. (one index card per object) You can always refer to the cards during the video if needed. 4. Practice with your cards and objects a couple of times before starting your video. Seesaw only allows you to video for five minutes. 5. Close the box and add any special touches to the box if you want (wrap, decorate, ribbon), you will open the box in your video. When your box is ready: 1. Tap the on the Seesaw activity. 2. Tap the label tool to type your first and last name on the top black line of the template. 3. Use the tool to video yourself presenting your box OR you can your video. 4. Resize your video so the top and bottom of the video touch the blue box on the template. 5. Optional: change (background) to a solid color, add (shapes) to accent around your video. 6. Choose if you need to go back to finish the activity or when you are ready to turn your activity in.
You may want to create an example of you doing the activity, it would be more meaningful to your class. You can give more details about the type of box and how you can be creative with choosing and opening the box. Teachers also want to give students 5 small index cards to write notes about each item and their introduction. Tell them to be creative and have fun with this activity, maybe they will even want to dress up.
